Hi I’m Rachel Radtke, certified Signing Time Academy instructor since November 2009. I have two children, Allie is 3 (seen at the top of the page demonstrating a few signs) and River is 9 months. We have been big fans of Signing Time ever since we caught an episode on PBS when Allie was just 12 months old (Signing Time no longer airs on TV). I had been trying to teach her signs myself for months, and was getting frustrated that she hadn’t signed back yet. Within a week or two of seeing that first episode, Allie made her first sign on a visit to her grandparents’ house. She ran across the room to their dog while signing “dog”. From there her vocabulary exploded! She very quickly mastered more, water, fan, hat, shoes, car, milk, eat, and even “Leah” (which is how she asked for Signing Time). Now at 3, even though she is able to speak clearly (most of the time!) Allie still enjoys signing, and signs daily. She is helping to teach her baby brother to sign, and likes to hold his hands and help him sign “more”. We hope to meet you soon!
